Robotic finger test

In this project, I am looking at the boundary between man and machine. Sometimes a machine becomes too human, then we find it scary. This is called the Uncanny Valley. One of the aspects where machines are not quite human, are our senses. We are able to smell, to taste, to hear, to see and to touch, all without any programming involve. Our senses are the most important parts of our human being and make us different from any machine. All intimate things, you do with your eyes closed. And your greatest memories come up through smell.

Within this project I researched our senses to see if they could be simulated. I tried to simulate the human hand and made two different versions. One in which the hand moved and looked similar as my human hand and one in which the hand moved the same but was visual a compleet different object. I tested both of these concepts at a massage table to see if the subjects could actually feel the difference between a human massage and a machine massage
