Light plays a very important part in our lives. Light makes us see, plays with our perception and changes the way we look at the world. Interacting with light and seeing real-time immediate effects on the captivating visual stimuli is fascinating.
Trans is an interactive lighting installation that plays with the perception of images on our retina. By adding speed and the participation of the user, Trans creates a high speed light pattern that seems to float into air. This image created will trick your brain into seeing it even after the speed decreases and the installation eventually stops moving. The pattern is entirely dependent on the user. Before the installation starts moving the user has a chance to change the leds and thereby change the not yet known pattern.
The aim of this installation is to make people aware of how light plays with our eyes and brain and how intense this can be. The after image that occurs is an example of your brain playing tricks on your vision.
