Museum Bronbeek is a museum about the decolonisation of Indonesia. Besides that Bronbeek is a museum it also offers residence for veterans of all military forces. In their permanent exhibition Bronbeek presents the time of decolonisation, but they can only show a small part of their archive.
The archive of Museum Bronbeek is a comprehensive archive with a diversity of objects, paintings and photo’s. To show more of this archive Juul Koene in collaboration with Channin Scholten created an exhibition concept that includes a filter system called Reflected Diversity. This filter system is existing out of items and different categories from the archive. When the visitor enters the exhibition space one single object lights up. Hereby the object gains attention of the visitor with as a result that the visitor is participating in the space. Near this object there is an interface with information about the object, a video and a map of the archive. At the interface it is also possible for the visitor to choose a category. This category is connected with different hidden objects in the exhibition space. As soon as one or more categories are chosen, different objects will light up. By participating the visitors create their own path through the exhibition and is able to experience the archive of Bronbeek.
